7th Grade

Welcome to 7th Grade

@quantumacademy

The most important things to remember as we go into the new school year are these:

Be FLEXIBLE. Be PATIENT with yourself and others.

We will begin the year, by getting to know each other and diving right in on a Design Thinking PBL! We'll also be reviewing Digital Citizenship, learning the Apple and Google tools available to us, and making sure that we're all comfortable with our digital platforms of collaborating and learning. Then we'll spend time working with the Quantum Values, the Icons of Depth and Complexity, and set up this year's digital portfolio. We'll follow that time by reviewing PBIS, 21st Century Skills, and Learning Spaces. Finally, we'll study what makes Project/Problem Based Learning so impactful and learn how to design a PBL unit.

The most important thing to understand about this year is that YOU are very much in charge of your learning and your level of success this year. You must rise to the challenge of being self-directed, self-motivated, and self-disciplined. It is YOUR responsibility to complete independent work BEFORE our group class time. It is YOUR responsibility to be prepared for group discussions. It is YOUR responsibility to create a space for yourself where you can think and work. If you need help with this, let us know!

This year will be a year of research, study, written communication, teamwork, individual contributions to group projects, and setting and achieving goals. The more involved YOU are as a student will have a direct effect on how well you perform this year and how connected you feel to your classmates and to us. The tricks are to: stay on top of your work, participate in discussions, be prepared for collaborating and ask lots of questions!

In all of our work this year, we will do our best to offer opportunities for you to use the Icons of Depth and Complexity to deepen your understanding of all subjects; us the 21st Century skills of Creativity, Communication, Critical Thinking, and Collaboration; continue to internalize the Quantum PBIS pillars: Responsibility, Respect, Scholarly Mindset, and Safety for self and others; focus on the Quantum Value of Perseverance (specifically in 7th grade) and continue to deepen your understanding of the other Values: Lead with Empathy, Impact the Community, Create, and Ask Questions and Seek Answers. We expect you to do your best to use these opportunities to grow!

We are very excited to be on this new and exciting journey with you. Together, we're going to have an amazing year like no other!
